AT base pair anions versus (9-methyl-A)(1-methyl-T) base pair anions.
The anionic base pairs of adenine and thymine, (AT)(-), and 9-methyladenine and 1-methylthymine, (MAMT)(-), have been investigated both theoretically and experimentally in a complementary, synergistic study. Calculations on (AT)(-) found that it had undergone a barrier-free proton transfer (BFPT) similar to that seen in other dimer anion systems and that its structural configuration was neither...
متن کامل(G-H)*-C and G-(C-H)* radicals derived from the guanine.cytosine base pair cause DNA subunit lesions.
The radicals generated by the homolytic cleavage of an X-H bond from the guanine.cytosine (G.C) base pair were studied by using carefully calibrated theoretical methods. The gradient-corrected density functional B3LYP was applied in conjunction with double-zeta plus polarization and diffuse function basis sets. Optimized geometries, energies, and vibrational frequencies were obtained for all of...
متن کاملThe structure of B-helical C-G-A-T-C-G-A-T-C-G and comparison with C-C-A-A-C-G-T-T-G-G. The effect of base pair reversals.
The crystal structure of the DNA decamer C-G-A-T-C-G-A-T-C-G has been solved to a resolution of 1.5 A, with a final R-factor of 16.1% for 5,107 two-sigma reflections. Crystals are orthorhombic space group P2(1)2(1)2(1), with cell dimensions a = 38.93 A, b = 39.63 A, c = 33.30 A, and 10 base pairs/asymmetric unit. The final structure contains 404 DNA atoms, 142 water molecules treated as oxygen ...
متن کامل. C O ] 9 M ay 2 00 9 On Longest Cycle C of a Graph G via Structures of G −
Two sharp lower bounds for the length of a longest cycle C of a graph G are presented in terms of the lengths of a longest path and a longest cycle of G − C, denoted by p and c, respectively, combined with minimum degree δ: (1) |C| ≥ (p + 2)(δ − p) and (2) |C| ≥ (c + 1)(δ − c + 1).
متن کاملTHE ROLE OF CHLOROMETHYL ETHERS IN THE FORMATION OF N(7) - AND N(9)-ALKYLATED ISOMERS OF ADENINE SYNTHESIS OF 2-[9-(ETHOXYMETHYL) ADENYL] PHOSPHONATE
The structural features of chloromethyl ethers are shown to have a significant effect on the formation of N(7)- or N(9)- alkylated isomers of purine acyclo-nucleosides. The chemical synthesis of 2-[9-(ethoxymethyl) adenyl] phosphonate is described. This compound is active against herpesviruses.
